About
The International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision, ISCEV, is a global, non-profit organization founded in 1958 to advance clinical applications & uphold the best principles & practices of clinical electrophysiology of vision by uniting clinicians, scientists, and allied professionals around the world. Since 1961, ISCEV has held an annual international symposium, at which all who are interested gather to promote & extend the knowledge of clinical, scientific, and basic electrophysiological methods in vision.
What started as a small meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, turned into an annual tradition of more than two hundred people affiliated with or interested in the field traveling all around the world—from Oxford, England to Seoul, South Korea, to Ljubljana, Slovenia, to Nagoya, Japan, Hyderabad, India, and Miami, USA—to learn better about people working hard to make the field the way it is today. Only a few places in the world are left where the conference is yet to be held.

As an international organization welcoming all people interested in the field to be a part of it, ISCEV has three geographic regions: Europe & Africa, Asia & Oceania, and the Americas, with the annual meeting rotating sequentially every year for a new region to welcome the event. Passing the torch from Sydney, Australia, in 2026, Toronto, Canada, is excited to host its first, Canada’s sixth, & ISCEV’s sixty-fourth Symposium in 2027.

Located in the heart of Toronto’s downtown, the Hospital for Sick Children [SickKids] will host both the course & the main symposium meeting. Specifically, SickKids’ own research tower, the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning [PGCRL], will be your host for the week.
SickKids has been ranked among the top two paediatric hospitals in the world for five consecutive years [out of 250 children’s hospitals globally]. It has been named the best hospital three times: in 2021, 2022, & 2025. SickKids is home to over 3,000 research staff, 800+ graduate students & research fellows, with close to a third of them being international trainees representing over 40 countries. SickKids is all about collaboration, innovation, and healthcare precision. You will feel right at home among diverse peers in the Canadian powerhouse of scientific excellence.
We want every participant to feel welcome, included, and supported throughout the symposium.
The venue, PGCRL, is equipped with elevator access to all floors. It also has a quick & easy access to the wheelchair-accessible & gender-neutral washrooms. The main auditorium itself and event rooms are wheelchair-friendly. All speakers will use microphones. Lecturer’s voice will be amplified via the speaker system.
Registrants will be able to communicate their dietary restrictions on the registration page. They will also be able to let us know about any other accommodations that would help them feel comfortable in a separate note field. We will do our best to meet reasonable accommodation requests.

Travel Insurance
It is strongly recommended that international participants take out insurance to cover loss [including registration fees] incurred in case of cancellation, medical expenses, and/or damage to or loss of personal effects. The organizers will not be responsible for any medical costs incurred by participants. The Local Planning Committee will not accept liability for personal injuries or for loss or damage to property belonging to participants, either during or because of the annual meeting.
Attendees must notify the Local Planning Committee of their intention to cancel their registration via email hello@iscev2027.ca as soon as possible. No refunds will be made for non-attendance.
Attendance cancellations must be requested at least 30 days prior to the event date to receive full refund. Refunds will NOT be issued for cancellations received within 30 days before the symposium start date.
Attendees may NOT transfer their registration to another person.
In the case of Force Majeure [e.g., natural disaster, pandemic, political unrest, etc.], symposium may be rescheduled or cancelled. Travel & accommodation costs will not be refunded. The Local Planning Committee will communicate with registrants specific terms for refunds or credit as soon as feasible.
Participants are expected to abide by the terms & conditions set forth by the Local Planning Committee, as well as all applicable laws & regulations governing this event. Participants are to maintain professional behaviour throughout the symposium. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of abuse will not be tolerated.
All content presented during the symposium, including presentations, documents, and multimedia materials, is the property of its respective owners. Unauthorized use or distribution of these materials is prohibited.
Sessions may be recorded and photographs may be taken for archival or promotional purposes. By participating, you consent to be photographed & recorded and allow the use of these materials by the Local Planning Committee. If you wish to not be photographed, you can always contact one of the on-site staff members or photographers directly. In such case, photographers will not make you the focus of any of the photos or videos taken—however, please be mindful you may still appear in the background of some of the captured media.
The Local Planning Committee reserves the right to make changes to the event program as necessary. Participants will be notified of significant changes.
