About
The International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision, ISCEV, is a global, non-profit organization founded in 1958 to advance clinical applications & uphold the best principles & practices of clinical electrophysiology of vision by uniting clinicians, scientists, and allied professionals around the world. Since 1961, ISCEV has held an annual international symposium, at which all who are interested gather to promote & extend the knowledge of clinical, scientific, and basic electrophysiological methods in vision.
What started as a small meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, turned into an annual tradition of more than two hundred people affiliated with or interested in the field traveling all around the world—from Oxford, England to Seoul, South Korea, to Ljubljana, Slovenia, to Nagoya, Japan, Hyderabad, India, and Miami, USA—to learn better about people working hard to make the field the way it is today. Only a few places in the world are left where the conference is yet to be held.

As an international organization welcoming all people interested in the field to be a part of it, ISCEV has three geographic regions: Europe & Africa, Asia & Oceania, and the Americas, with the annual meeting rotating sequentially every year for a new region to welcome the event. Passing the torch from Sydney, Australia, in 2026, Toronto, Canada, is excited to host its first, Canada’s sixth, and ISCEV’s sixty-fourth Symposium in 2027.

Just like ISCEV cannot function without having a diverse board of people from all around the world aiming to drive the field of electrophysiology of vision forward, we could not have made the sixty-fourth annual meeting as amazing as it is without these great folks:
The Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences at The Hospital for Sick Children [SickKids] provides Canada’s most advanced paediatric eye care, including complex surgical intervention, through one of the largest clinical programs in the world [37,000+ patient visits, 1,200+ surgeries annually]. It is the only Canadian centre offering comprehensive paediatric ophthalmology care across all subspecialties: glaucoma, cataract, corneal disease and transplantation, neuro-ophthalmology, strabismus, oculoplastics, retinoblastoma, retinopathy of prematurity, retina, and ocular genetics. SickKids DOVS is also home to Canada’s first and only NeuroVision Program dedicated to studying visual processing in children using electrophysiology of vision together with eye-movement recordings, behavioural measures, and neuroimaging.

The Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto is one of Canada’s foremost and largest academic departments with 196 current faculty members. DOVS’ research, training, and tertiary-care programs are highly regarded, housing internationally renowned researchers & clinicians, and attracting candidates from all around the world.

Located in the heart of Toronto’s downtown, The Hospital for Sick Children [SickKids] will host both the course & the main symposium meeting. Specifically, SickKids’ own research tower, the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning [PGCRL], will be your host for the week.
SickKids has been ranked among the top two paediatric hospitals in the world for seven consecutive years [out of 250 children’s hospitals globally]. It has been named the best paediatric hospital four times: in 2021, 2022, 2026, and 2027. SickKids is home to over 3,000 research staff, 800+ graduate students & research fellows, with close to a third of them being international trainees representing over 40 countries. SickKids is all about collaboration, innovation, and healthcare precision. You will feel right at home among diverse peers in the Canadian powerhouse of scientific excellence.
We want every participant to feel welcome, included, and supported throughout the symposium.
The venue, PGCRL, is equipped with elevator access to all floors. It also has a quick & easy access to the wheelchair-accessible & gender-neutral washrooms. The main auditorium itself and event rooms are wheelchair-friendly. All speakers will use microphones. Lecturer’s voice will be amplified via the speaker system.
Registrants will be able to communicate their dietary restrictions on the registration page. They will also be able to let us know about any other accommodations that would help them feel comfortable in a separate note field. We will do our best to meet reasonable accommodation requests.

Confirmed attendees must notify the Local Planning Committee of their intention to cancel their registration via email hello@iscev2027.ca as soon as possible. No refunds will be made for non-attendance.
Attendance cancellations must be requested at least 30 days prior to the event date to receive full refund, minus a 100 CAD administrative fee. Cancellation requests submitted within 30–14 days of the event may be eligible for 25% refund, provided registrant submits compelling documentation they are unable to attend [e.g., visa refusal, personal circumstances, etc.]. Refunds will NOT be issued for cancellations received within 14 days of the symposium start date: June 12.
Attendees may NOT transfer their registration to another person.
In the case of Force Majeure [e.g., natural disaster, pandemic, political unrest, etc.], symposium may be rescheduled or cancelled. Travel & accommodation costs will not be refunded. The Local Planning Committee will communicate with registrants specific terms for refunds or credit as soon as feasible.
Participants are expected to abide by the terms & conditions set forth by the Local Planning Committee, as well as all applicable laws & regulations governing this event. Participants are to maintain professional behaviour throughout the symposium. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of abuse will not be tolerated.
All content presented during the symposium, including presentations, documents, and multimedia materials, is the property of its respective owners. Unauthorized use or distribution of these materials is prohibited.
Sessions may be recorded and photographs may be taken for archival or promotional purposes. By participating, you consent to be photographed & recorded and allow the use of these materials by ISCEV & the Local Planning Committee. If you wish to not be photographed, you can always contact one of the on-site staff members or photographers directly. In such case, photographers will not make you the focus of any of the photos or videos taken—however, please be mindful you may still appear in the background of some of the captured media.
The Local Planning Committee reserves the right to make changes to the event program as necessary. Participants will be notified of significant changes.
